Policies

Respect

We take pride in the cleanliness, security and safety of our facility. As members of the CityBox community, we respect the importance of the trust you have placed in us to provide a safe, clean and secure environment for your items. In return, we ask that you observe the information provided by our staff as well as the signage placed inside and outside of the building. Posted Rules and regulations are there to assist you in understanding and observing the operations of our CityBox Storage facility.

You will need to become familiar with the gate, building and unit alarm systems. Please take the time to go through a site orientation with one of our staff.

Once you have parked and turned off your car at the loading bay or dock, we request that you take only the time you need to unload or reload your belongings and then move your vehicle, so that other CityBox members may do the same.

For the sake and safety of everyone, it is expected that you will return carts to their rightful place. Please remove all of your garbage and recycling from hallways and entries.

Care has been taken in planning for a hygienic restroom experience for all of our members and staff. Please be respectful and courteous with your use.

We welcome you to enjoy a complimentary coffee, tea or water at the front office coffee bar, but please tidy up after yourself.

Moving Out

We would appreciate 7 days notice, but move-outs can take place at any time.

Minimum Stay

The minimum stay is 1 month. Move-ins can take place on any day of the month.

Moving In

Move-ins can take place anytime after appropriate identification has been provided, your CityBox Unit Rental Agreement has been signed, your access code set and any rent owing has been paid.

Prohibited Items & Uses

(a) Storage Units Health, safety and fire regulations prohibit the storage of certain items under the terms of the CityBox Unit Rental Agreement. Acknowledgement of, and compliance with, these rules is required at all times. Our management reserves the right to terminate a Unit Rental Agreement for non-compliance.

(b) Mailboxes In accordance with the terms of the Mailbox Service Agreement, it is prohibited to use our mailboxes or associated services for any unlawful activity.

Mailbox Services

Two pieces of picture ID are required to enter into a CityBox Mailbox Service Agreement. There is a $20 refundable deposit for a mailbox key. Mailbox keys may not be copied.

There can be joint holders having the same surname or being family members to a maximum of 2 persons for a small box, 4 for a medium box and 6 for a large box. CityBox will receive mail and parcels from Canada Post and private courier companies such as UPS, Canpar, DHL or FedEx only for those individuals listed in each Mailbox Service Agreement.

Access to mailboxes and parcel pickup may be had during front office hours only and may be subject to change.

Insurance

Insurance is required as part of your CityBox Unit Rental Agreement. We strongly believe you should insure your stored valuables as you would those in your home. Accordingly, CityBox is pleased to include $2,500 of complimentary insurance on the contents of each CityBox unit you rent, regardless of size.

We urge you to consider the value of your belongings as you determine the level of insurance coverage you will need. Additional coverage may be purchased from our CityBox insurance provider at excellent rates or it may be arranged through your home insurance provider.

Documentation

Two pieces of signed identification are required to rent a CityBox unit or mailbox – one being a government issued with a picture. Our CityBox staff are required to scan a Driver’s License or Passport to register you as a member.

Access Codes

Access codes are a crucial part of security for both you and your belongings. Access codes may not be retrieved nor changed without presentation of your original picture ID in person. Please speak with one of our CityBox staff during regular office hours.

Lost Keys

(a) Storage Lockers: If you lose the key to your lock, we will cut your lock for you the first time at no charge, upon presentation of picture ID. Second and subsequent requests will be charged at $25.00 each. A locker may not be without a lock at any time, so you will either have to buy, or provide, another lock for your unit immediately at the time removal. Please call or speak with one of our CityBox staff for assistance, or to purchase a new lock, during regular front office hours.

(b) Mailboxes: Mailboxes come equipped with a lock, you do not need to provide one. A $20.00 key deposit is required for the first mailbox key upon signing your prepaid Mailbox Service Agreement. Your key deposit will be returned to you at the end of your mailbox rental term. Lost keys will result in a replacement charge of $25.00 immediately and your initial $20.00 deposit will be refunded at the end of your mailbox rental term.

What happens if I move out early?

You can move out any time you like, but we would appreciate 7 days’ notice prior to your departure.

Do I need to give notice before I move out?

We would appreciate at least 7 days notice prior to your move out.

What kind of documentation do I need in order to rent?

We require two pieces of signed identification - at least one to be government issued, with a current picture (preferably your driver’s license or passport. To further enhance our security measures, CityBox staff will need to scan your ID to register you as a member.

Do I need to sign a lease?

All CityBox members sign a Unit Rental Agreement for each locker they rent, which outlines your rights and responsibilities. Your rental obligation is month to month.

What happens if I lose my key?

Things like this happen. If you lose your key, we will cut your lock for you at no additional fee. You will either have to buy or provide another lock for your unit immediately. Please call or visit your CityBox site manager for assistance during regular office hours.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We are happy to accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Debit, Bank Debit and cash. We are also pleased to arrange automatic payments so you don’t have to worry about being late with a payment.

What happens if I do not pay my rent?

Rent is due on your anniversary date. If your rent is not paid or not paid on time, according to the terms of your Unit Rental Agreement, we may be forced to sell the contents of the storage unit. We will do everything we can to assist you in making payment arrangements, but you should contact us immediately so that we can resolve the matter promptly.

Do I need to buy insurance?

Insurance is provided as part of your CityBox Unit Rental Agreement. Because we strongly believe you should insure your stored valuables as you would those in your home, CityBox is pleased to include $2,500 of complimentary insurance on the contents of each CityBox unit you rent, regardless of size.
